    Hi

I have a PC(vista) and a laptop (Vista) at home and I want to share some excel files between these two. I use a wireless router. How to share the files to read/write between these two ?

    Hi Subha ,

I assume that you are connecting PC through cable & laptop through wireless with the Router

First both in the PC & the Laptop , rename the home network to a common name ( if not already )
Then you should be able to see each from the other system in the network folder ...

now on clicking the icons ( in the network folder ), you can open the shared folders / drives.
you can share the drives / folders so that you can transfer your files between two systems

if it is difficult to follow above then please see below :

on both PC and Laptop , open Control Panel --> System

on right side , under Computer Name, Domain, and Workgroup Settings, click Change settings.

Click the Computer Name tab, and then click Change

you can click on more information as in above image for help from OS
OR just put same Domain / Workgroup name for both PC and Laptop

after above settings browse to computer --> network on any system
& you should be able to see the other system for the transfer of files

I hope that I have posted correct procedure . if not, please post back ... so that
I can try to rectify above details / post a more useful guide for your requirement :)

^ oh, no! Teamviewer ( or any other desktop sharing program) requires active internet connection on both systems ...

^ it appears that I missed a couple of important steps ( network discovery & file sharing )
it could have been easy to find the missing part if there was any error message ...

here is one of the useful tutorials available on the net for above problem : please follow this
