    The Snake gourd or Pudalangai(in Tamil) is very good for heart patients.When my brother had a heart attack ,this was the main vegetable given daily.simple Recipes without oil can be prepared :
    1. Boil snake gourd pieces with Moong dal & saute with little oil, mustard seeds,one or two red chillies,add little salt.Normal people can have the same with a little excess of the ingredients.
    2.Boil pieces of snake gourd & add the same with any salad preparation.
    3.Boil pieces of snake gourd,put it in curd,add little salt & serve.If fried in oil it will be tastier but oil is not good for heart problems.
    4. It is better to boil the vegetables & then saute so that only minimum oil will be required.
    5.While preparing uppuma snake gourd pieces can be added with other vegetables.
