Sending food through Post within US?

    Has anyone sent food items through post within US? if so how to send them?
    I want to send some snacks or sweets for college students and was just wondering how to. they are home sick and would feel nice if they get some sweets during diwali time.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Years ago here in USA people used to send food a lot. Now there are all these rules about contents and also the rates are really high so its not done so much now. I would suggest doing a flat rate box and do Haldirams boxes or bagged namkeen. Stuff in jars or cans is problematic. You can also order from a website and have it shipped to them directly which might be cheaper if they have a good shipping rate due to their business.

    Happy Diwali. @Charral, you caa send it. I do send snacks in US and receive too. Pack well and send it by Priority Mail at the post office. Main thing is to put the sweets in Freezer bag. I send Halwa and other sweets to Boston, Chicago and Florida. No problems.
    By the way, I would like get some too. You are going to make students very happy. It is a very good deed.

    A couple of months back, sent kaju katli(home made) to VA and costed 10 to 15 bucks and reached there within 3 or 4 days. If you have a flat pencil box, would be easier to send the same.

    It is already late but better than never. They are all homesick and would be glad to eat something which reminds them of home.
