Government of India banned export of Non basmati Rice. Indians in US start panicking and hoarding bags of Rice. Why are people so crazy ? Indian stores also increased the prices on purpose. Why so much greed.
I wasn’t aware of this. I buy ponni rice and Sona Masoori only when my parents come because they are particular. Otherwise I keep one bag of basmati ride and another of jasmine rice.
It is the top story for 3 days in the indian stores. I saw one video, Indians (may be in US or canada) rushing and pushing each other to grab the rice bags in the store. I agree that people are crazy. The reason is the fear and the selfishness. I use brown rice for daily cooking and parboiled rice for idli and dosa.

Poor guy! Now he is like a meme in the internet . But what we don’t know is if he is buying for a group of friends or all for himself ! But agree some people are going really crazy, especially when the ban is only for non basmati varieties. I thank God for my family’s very “adjustable” taste buds that we can even live on Uncle Ben rice.
In this era of social media need to be careful. If he had become a meme, with his face shown. he is done for life.
maybe with ban for few months all those people like me who want to reduce/stop eating rice might have some kind of advantage hahaah, eventhou we have lot of different kind of rice.. sona masoori is one of the kind that cant be displaced..
