I have accidentally found a way of taking out coconut from its shell without using a knife!
I thought I should share this with you all as it’s very helpful.
Few days ago when I returned home after a hectic grocery shopping trip, I was tired and kept the things as they were packed from shop in a corner in the kitchen.
I did not bother to arrange the groceries and was occupied with other household chores and kids. Before retiring for the night; I noticed the same bag stuffed with things which I had shopped for and I got annoyed about it. I just stuffed the vegetables in the refrigerator without cleaning them. For next day morning breakfast I wanted to make coconut chutney, but did not have the energy to clean and store it. I usually have the habit of planning the menu one day in advance and keep things ready accordingly.

Let me get back to the problem. So I went ahead and kept the whole coconut in the freezer. I do not know why I chose the freezer instead the refrigerator. The next morning when I got it out, it was obviously frozen. I wanted coconut for the immediate use. Thanks to this urgency, I made this discovery which I want to share. I wrapped the coconut with an old cloth and hammered it. The result was great. The shell was broken into pieces but the coconut itself separated from its shell. Oh that moment was great, I was ecstatic! No KNIFE NEEDED!
I hope, people who use coconut very often will appreciate the reason of my happiness.

This might be one of the tricks (to remove coconut from its shell) that people already know. I am simply excited to share this information with you all. Try this out and let me know how it went with you. Hope that it’s of some use for you too.

hi there is one more way. i saw in youtube.

keep the coconut in water for 7-8 hours and remove it from the water and hit it with the hammer or opposite side of the knife.. outer hard core breaks into pieces. inside coconut is intact. i have to try this yet.

    Thats a super innovative idea.

I usually keep the coconut in water for about half an hour and then break it. It breaks easily and also the shell separates easily.

But Yeah, I will keep your tip in mind.
