    Manus

    Dear ILIts,
Mention was made by LORD KRISHNA in Bhagavadgita about
MANUS in the sixth sloka of tenth chapter. So let us know Who
    they are.
    "maharsayah.......manavastatha.........imah prajah"
MANUS:-This Universe consists of infinite number of objects and an infinite variety of creatures For their proper regulation and control these diverse orders of objects ideas and beings have been classified into various broad divisions and groups under Gods immutable laws, and each broad division or
group has been placed under the control of a supervisor or chief so that the processes of their creation maintainance
and destruction may be carried on strictly according to law.The Rudras,Visus,MANUS etc are various orders of these functionaries or chiefs. They are believed to be both embodied
and unembodied form. They are the creators and activators of
the World By carrying out Brahma's orders. They are born of the mind of Brahma in order to create the universe. so they
    can be called Brahma's sons.
They are 14 in number. The names are given below
    1) Swayambhuva 2)Svarochisa 3)Uttama
    4)Tamasa 5)Raivata 6)Chaksusa
    7) Vaivaswata 8)Savarni 9)Daksasavarni
    10)Brahmasavarni 11)Dharmasavarni 12)Rudrasavarni
    13)Devasavarni 14)Indrasavarni
At the end of KALPA consisting of 14 Manvantaras the entire group of MANUS change. All these Seers and Manus are full of reverence and love for GOD. It is for this reasson that the Qualification "MadBhava" has been used in that sloka with
    reference to them only.
In this sloka mention was also made as "PURVE CHATVARO"
which means SANAKA, SANANDANA, SANATANA ,and SANATKUMARA were the first to be born of the Mind of BRAHMA after he did penance. They are the Manifestations of the Lord. They always remain children of Five years. They wander in the 3 worlds to promulgate Knowledge and dispassion. They always utter "HARI SARANAM".They love Divne discourses and so one of them holds discourses the other 3
    listen tohim.

    Re: Pole Star

    Madam Sriniketan,
Than Q verymuch for your feedback. Your appriciation is an encouragement to me. you can see These Saptrsis in the sky as a Group of stars when the sky is clear with naked Eye.
If not with a low powered BInoculus or a Telecope. We can show them to children also . My idea in writing this post is most of us are not known all the names of Saptarsis. As a hindu every one of us should know at least the names and backround of these Stars. It is a scientific Interest. U plz go through all of my posts and express ur free and frank opinion
which is a guidence to me

    Manvantara

MANVANTARA:- means the TENURE of one Manu.
According to the surya Siddhanta (An old and authoritative treatise on Astronamy)the duration of Manvantara etc has been calculated as below:-
A Chaturyugi (One full round of the Satya,Treta,Dwapara, and Kaliyuga ) consists of 43,20,000 human years or 12,000
celestiel years. This period is also called a "Mahayuga " seventy one rounds of such Mahayugas go to make a Manvantara A period equal in duration to SATYAYUGA or
17,28,000 human years intervenes the expiration of each
Manvantara and commensement of another and is known as
technically a SANDHYA or TWILIGHT. During this sandhya
occuring at the end of each Manvantara the earth goes under water. in every KALPA or COSMICDAY there are 14 Manvantaras with an equal number of TWILIGHTS. Besides these there is one more Twilight of the same duration at the begining of each KALPA. In this way the 14 Manvantaras
comprised in each KALPA conssts of 71 Chaturyugis in each
besides 15 Twilights each of the duration of a Satyayuga. The
14 Manvantaras thus comprise in all 14x71=994 Mahayuga plus 15 Twilights which go to make another 6 Mahayugas. In this way each KALPA comprises 994+6=1000 Mahayugas.
KALPA is nly another name for a cosmicDay and each Cosmic day is followed by a cosmic night of the same length.
The full length of BRAHMA'S life is 100 years according to this
measure. This period of time is technically known as 'PARA'
Having completed half of this period Brahma is now passing through rhe other Half. The present time represents the first day or kalpa of his 51st year. Since the begining of this Kalpa 6 Manvantaras with their Sandhyas
have already passed.whereas the number of Sandhyas including the one occuring at the begining of the Kalpa, that
have been elapsed so far is seven. The present is 7th or
VAIVASWATA MANVANTARA, of which 27 Chaturyugas have passed.we are now passing through the Twilight at the begining of the Kaliyuga of the 28 Chturyuga.
    --------------------- Solaryears -----------------Celistialyears
    One Mahayuga -------------43,20,000 -------------------12,000
    71 Chaturyugas 30,67,20,000------------------8,52,000

    Sandhi -------------- ------17,20,000 --------------------4,000
    14 Sandhyas-------------- 2,41,92,000------------------- 67,200

    Re: Manvantara

    Hello Nischel,

Complex yet simple. It took me 2-3 readings to understand the mathematics and then reason it but I enjoyed the post. Not the ordinary and good to learn. Suggest me some books with related topics. I can probably buy them soon and start studying. Though born and brought up in India very few have the virtue of learning Indian discoveries, pure science and mathematics.

Good post. Have a lovely day.

    Re: Manvantara

Than Q very much Lalitha for your immediate response. The book you need, may not be available there in U.S as it is a Rare old book by name "SURYA SIDDHANTHA". Here in india also the original book is not available to me. A few extracts were written in another book of commentary on BagawatGeetha. I noted some relavant points in my Note
book and presented in this post. It is my Hobby to go to library and to refer interested books, noting down immportant points and to attach them to my posts. I am interested in getting information about our ancient Religious and spiritual books like UPANISHADS,MAHABHARATHA and RAMAYANA etc and to present them in IL sites.
U must be younger than my daughters,as they two are
married and having children. So i can bless U as mydaughter
    if u don't think otherwise.
    With Best wishes

    Vidura"s Morals

    Dear ILIts,
To days Topic is VIDURA'S MORALS
Who is this VIDURA ? What are his MORALS ?
In "MahaBharata" in the Kingdom of King "Dhruttharastra" VIDURA was a courtier. He is famous for his
wisdom and Morality. The king himself used to take suggestions from vdura. They are everlasting truths and worth
noting to follow.some of Them are given below:-
    I) Self control:-LAKSHMI ( Godess of fortune) is alwayss in the
    service of three types people.
    1)whose senses are under control.
2)One who gives punishment to the wrong doers.
3)who does work with Great examination and inspection.
    11) Man's body is just like a RATHA (Chariot),intelligence is
like a (Charioteer) (Sarathi) and senses are its HORSES.
one who controls all these three travels happily in this
world just like the charioteer who has controlled the horses
    of the chariot.
    111) Just like the untrained and uncontrolled Horses overthrough the charioteer on the path similarly the senses
if uncotrolled have the capacity to kill a man.
1V) One who is under the influence of the Senses after
abandoning DHARMA(Religion)and its meaning (ARDHA) will
    looses Quickly his FORTUNE(Aishwarya),PRAN(life) DHAN
    (wealth) and STREE(wife).
V)One should try to understand his real SELF by controlling Mind(MANA), intelligence (BUDDHI) senses (INDRIYAS)
because the SOUL only is one's friend and enemy.
V1)FOOD:-just as a Fish is lured by the bait without realizing
the consequences of its action,Man should eat only those kinds of food that are worth eating, which can be digested, and
also had a good effect on his body nut not unworthy food.
V11)POLICY:-Those Metals which can be moulded without heating are not heated that is an intelligent Man should never control a person who has more strengtg than him
V111) MORALITY :-one who does not become happy in his
own happiness who does not rejoice in other's misery is called
    a moral man.
    continued.............

    Importance Of Five

    Dear ILITs,
    1) A man must always be in the service of Five AGNIS:- that is
    . MOTHER.....FATHER.....FIRE.....SOUL....and....PRECEPTOR..........
.........As all these Five are worth revering like AGNI(Fire)........

    2)Being the service of DEVATHA(Diety)..PITHAR(Ancestors).......
    --MANUSHYA(Man)...SANYASI(Hermit) and ATHITI(Guest).........
    ..helps to achieve...Fame and Admiration................................

    3) just as a hole in MASHAk(a leather water bag) results in a ..
..leakage of water, in the same way if any of the Five Sensory
..Organs become faulty then the Intelligence is effected........
