I read that refined sesame oil doesn't leave a sesame smell on the skin. Is there benefit in one kind versus another? What do you prefer?

a good sesame oil will have the nutty flavor and will be absorbed by the skin and will leave a supple shine on prolonged use. proof was my grandmother, who never used anything other than cold pressed sesame oil for her skin and hair. she had such shiny skin.., that no lotion nor moisturizer could beat.

and yes wash with rice flour or gram flour as scrub.

Shanvy, please instruct me how to apply the rice powder. Do I make a paste or spread it on dry?

When you rub it dry,the excess oil is absorbed by the flour and it also exfoliates. You can also use it as a paste
You dont want the oily feel after bath

Use filtered one. Refined oil doesn't contain any neutritions. For cooking purpose also i have completely stoped refined oil.

@Shanvy - How about for cooking? Unrefined is good? I use Idhayam but see organic ones in health food stores. Never replaced idhayam because I wasn't sure if it can be used in our pickles and dosas. I'd love to use the organic ones though.
