    Hi ladies,

Have you or someone you know consulted with a clinical psychologist for a child with behavioural issues or suspected ADD/ADHD?

I need a consult for my 10 year old ASAP...

I have googled some info but would really like to have some more referrals and feedback on this.

    Thanks heaps n God bless!

First take him to Pead. and consult. They can guide you properly. In Homeo, there is medicine without side effects.
BTW why you have the doubt?
    Basically where are you from?

Also check out his IQ level. If it is good, then problem is in parenting --means the boy is not getting enough attention from parents. Some boys are naturally sensitive and expects a lot from parents means parents attention.
Don't decide anything till you consult a pead + check out his IQ..
reply back to me why you have a doubt???

Just to clear the air, we have not taken this decision lightly. We have done due research and have consulted with my son's paediatrician.

There have been numerous complains from his school regarding his lack of attention, being disruptive in class and some other concerns, over the past two years.

Rest assured, I am a full time mom and there are no issues pertaining to lack of attention.

there is going to be no medication involved as I am seeking referrals for a psychologist (not a psychiatrist)...so essentially it is only going to be a counselling session and necessary diagnostic tests, if required.

I request all to please not pass any judgement. As parents we are all doing the very best that we can for our children.

It was not easy for me to post my query and I appreciate your support.

    Thanks again.

Iam sorry if my post hurts you.
As a mother of two, i faced this issue at one stage and did what i suggested to you. But thank God, nothing was wrong. Some kids were playful and needs a diversion. And now my son is the BEST.

Thanks Nijasav...these days I am more sensitive than my usual self.

I am glad everything worked out well for your dear son and you.

Hope this is all just a phase with my DS too and that he grows out of it. But we have to consult with a professional to help us deal with this.

    Take care.

Many conditions mimic ADHD ,like lead poisoning, sleep apnea, consumption of certain foods containing excess sugars etc

Please check this link ,you and your physician could rule out most of the conditions

When It's Not ADHD, What Is It, a Zebra?

If every thing is ruled out then talk to your physician about ADHD,he/she will give you certain forms to fill out and they scale depending on your answers

Thanks smilysmile! Will check out the link.
The paediatrician advised us to consult a psychologist to get counselling for behavioural issues. She suspects that it could be ADHD but said that the psychologist would assess during the first session and proceed with necessary tests only if required.
Appreciate your input, though! Many thanks

I just came to know that there is a Child psychologist in Nasser Clinic in Al Qusais Sun Rise building opposite Dubai Grand Hotel. Came across the doctor's (Dr. George Kalliyaden) profile on LinkedIn.
