Right now we go to grocery store and purchase produce. fruits, veggies, dairy, fish, chicken, peanut butter, nuts, coffee, pure cocoa, water (I cannot think of anything else right now) We avoid processed, oiled, firied, drizzled, etc, etc, etc. if we eat any stricter we would be Sadhus living in the forest What is the guarantee if we purchase through instacart, Amazon prime (I am a member, I believe it will save me more money, the jury is still out on that one), etc, etc that 1. Price is fair 2. We get the quality of produce we want. I know there are shoppers but do they eat like we do, or are they some pimply kid who eats sugary cardboard, ie pop tarts for breakfast? Some distant Aunties say they use these online services but they eat packaged, processed food that is labeled as healthy which I think is nonsense We are seriously considering taking the online plunge for our everyday grocery shopping. plz share your experiences.
Instacart is more expensive than shopping by yourself, as much as a 30% markup. The quality of produce can be hit or miss depending on the shopper. If you are dissatisfied with any item you can request a refund through their app.
Ohhh, I guess the 30% mark-up is to pay for the convenience of not venturing out. That is reasonable, at least one can request refund if dissatisfied.
The increased cost is both due to the higher prices Instacart charges for the product itself as well as the tip for the shoppers. You are definitely paying for the convenience. Whole Foods used to have free deliver through Prime but they started charging $10 delivery fee per order since last October. And you still have to tip the shopper.
I have Walmart + membership and they charge $13 months. Delivery is free if you order more than $35 and you need to tip the driver. I order everything from Walmart delivery except fruits and veggies.
