    hi Sunkan,

Today I tried your version of aloo matar. it was amazingggggggg......infact today being thursday, i requested Saibaba/Raghavendra...to come to our house (in the mind while praying) and to taste the aloo matar. Just finished praying and i get a call from my cousin that she is coming to my house with her hubby and son. she has come down from Vizag to Mum. She came around 11:00am and said that since said that she had heavy breakfast, she does not want anything. I said I have made "Missi Roti" and "lovely "Aloo Matar". And when I served them, they just hogged and hogged and hogged. It was just superb and she has taken the recepie from me.

I must say that it was instant hit.

    Regards

    shashu

Re: I tried aloo mutter - Super taste! Great hit!

Langar daal is made with ma chole, which is black urad daal and channa daal mixed and cooked together.
But I feel the secret of yummy langar daal is not the ingredients but the love and devotion with which it is prepared:)

    U need :
1 cup Black Daal/ urad daal with skin
    1/2 cup chana daal
    2-4 tbsp ghee
    1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    Salt as per taste
    For Tadka
    1 bay leaf
    a piece of cinnamon
1 tsp of whole jeera seeds
    1 onion finely chopped
    1 tomato finely chopped
    2 green chili finely chopped
    1 tsp ginger paste
    1 tsp garlic paste
    1tsp Garam Masala
    1 tsp red chili powder

    Method
Wash abd soak both the daals together in water for sometime preferably for an hour or more.don't throw the water , u can use the same for cooking.
In the pressure cooker, add 3-4 cups of water, daals,2tsp ghee, turmeric powder and salt
Cook it for 30 minutes then release steam and remove the lid
let it simmer on low flame till is done , it should be nice thick consistency.
    For Tadka
Heat ghee in a Kadai add bay leaf, cinnamon, cumin seeds when it starts splutter.
Afd onion and fry till golden brown and then add tomato ginger garlic paste, green chilli, gram masala powder, salt and fry for few seconds.
Finally add cooked daal and mix it well and let it simmer for few minutes on slow flame.

Actually that daal is cooked in slow flame over a long period of time which gives a unique taste.

    Happy cooking:)

Totally agree.. cooking it on a simmer flame is the trick. I always do it the way CM has explained above :)

And yaa.. have it with Aam ka achaar and pyaaz. It tastes yummy with fresh chapatis or rice:exactly:
