    Hi sssaustin,

Selviraj has already suggested good places around Austin.

SOme more places would be Innerspace Caverns - it is a wildlife park with walking trails (kids enjoy this the most), Schlitterbahn waterpark resort - a fun family resort to play, eat and have fun, ideal during summer time.

I am not sure if you all would be interested in a old town kind of places to walk around. Then you can visit George town and there is also another German town called Fredricksburg. I am sure you would have already visited the malls and downtown - capitol, museum, duck tour, etc.

    Have fun in Austin.

Yesterday, we went to the Walter E Long park.
Park Profile: Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park

It is very close to the new austin temple. The park has several shaded picnic spots and also is on a lake. You can rent Kayaks and pedal boats if you are into it. There is also place to play frisby or other group games as well. It is a great place to go as a group of families. Enjoy!

    Hi Priya,

It's only lot of indoor entertainment places that you should scout for during winter. Though it is not all the time icy / never snowy in Texas, it still gets really cold to an extent and many outdoor spots are closed.

Some indoor family fun places could be:

    thinkeryaustin.org/ - Austin Children's Museum

    Hi Priya,

Hope you got to visit a few places in Austin during winter.

Here are some places to visit in Winter, not exactly Austin, but you can drive by:

Great Wolf Lodge, Grapevine Texas - Indoor water park and resort - Kids will love it

Gaylord Texans - It is also a resort, right opp. to Wolf lodge, the Christmas & New Year lighting in very good here. They also have Ice sculptures show every year featuring a theme.

    Hi,

Austin Nature and Science Center, near Zilker park, is not exactly a picnic spot, but a nice outdoor place to spend a few hours and enjoy nature. Beautiful trails, nice pond, dinosaur pits that kids will enjoy. All free and lots of parking space too.

    Best wishes,
    Simi
