This is a recipe that I got from my DH's cousin on our last visit to India. It is similar to the previously posted poha recipes, but it is made with vermicelli. It is very simple and easy. We like to have it for quick meals. Boil for about 2 minutes: 2 Cups Vermicelli 2 tsp Salt 2 tsp Lemon Juice Drain Vermicelli and let cool, 15-20 minutes In pan: 2 tsp Oil 2 tsp Butter ½ tsp Mustard Seeds ½ tsp Cumin Seeds Once oil is hot, sauté: 2 Green Chilies, diced ½ Onion, diced ¼ - ½ Cup Peanuts 1 – 1 ½ tsp Salt 2 tsp Sugar Add Vermicelli, mix well Add: Chopped Cilantro ½ Cup Coconut, shredded If you decide to try it, I hope you enjoy! Dear all try my poha. Soak poha in tamarind, turmeric powder and salt water for 30 mins. Then heat gingel oil and add mustard seed, ulutamparupu, kadalai parupu, dry chili, and asafotida. when the chilli turned brown add the soaked poha and cook for some time. Garnish with curry leaf. Tastes like tamarind rice. If you are using one cup of poha use two cups of tamarind water. Use tamarind according to your taste. Enjoy.
