Passport Renewal From Usa

    hi ,

    my indian passport expires later this year . the address on my passport is from a city where i used to work then and now i cant use the same address anymore as no one is there for police verification. and the place where my father lives now i dont have any documents in my name for that address . i read some where that we can use the present usa based address and get it notarized and submit it for passport renewal or something on those lines.

    can some one please shed some light on it if they did it or know how to do it.

    You can renew your Indian passport in USA, just send it to the right embassy e.g if you are in Midwest you have to send it to Chicago embassy to get your Indian passport renewed

    i am in WA .
    what about the indian address that we have to give for the passport ?
    recently when H renewed his passport here even though the website said no police verification is needed without change in indian address in his case , but still the verification did happen for him at his indian address.
    in my case i have no address as such in india that i can give in the application.

    If you apply in Tatkal police verification happens, if normal police verification doesn't happen so far I heard from friends here.
    For a friend her parents moved once she got emails for police verification she called police stn spoke with inspector, later her brother showed needed documents in police stn. But with same address no change.
    It was within the same district. Pls check with embassy/ consulate of India. They keep changing their requirements

    You can give any Indian address where people can identify you, parents, in-laws, siblings etc. You will be sending in your passport application to San Francisco Indian consulate.

    You can keep your US address in Indian passport. We did that long back and even moved from the address a few years later. It can save lot of headache like Indian style verification.
    Anyway its your choice on the address you like to keep in passport.

    All applications to passports must be sent to

    thanks ... yes this is what i want to do if possible ...have my US address on the passport to avoid verification hassle ...does indian consulate help with this

    i will call the consulate in the coming week to check as well ...if they allow US address that would be preferable if not i can give my fathers address proof for india address and see . thank you.
