The pain... well that was...bearable...atleast in hindsight. :)
actualy my water broke at around 10.45 pm and mild pains started almost immediately, i was given pitocin at around 4..30 am , when active pushing started i dont remember, but yes i cried a lot, in fact, if u ask me it was the pressure in the last stage that i found most unbearable . i delivered at 8.39am
& no i didnt feel exhausted, spent etc.
the pain & pressure was gone immediately after delivery & i was perfectly okay after that, in fact i met & talked to all my relatives / friends & slept only in the noon when i was given pain killers & other medication
overall it wasnt as painful as it is made out to be..trust me...it really isnt..
in any case u wont remeber it once u hold ur baby:)

Hi Ladies - Those who've opted for epidurals in Chennai, can you please let me know if this is administered through catherer in varying doses or is it a single dose injection?

    Hi Deepa,
It is not a Single dose. It will be injected through various doses only.
whenver we feel pain, we can tell them to inject. Till Doc see the baby's head, they will inject. After that they wont, though u have pain. Bcoz, u need pain to push the baby finally.

In my case, they inject epidural when vagianal opening was 3 cm . But my vagina opened very fast.Within half an hour, from 3 cm to nearly 9cm. So, they injected me only once.

Depends upon the vaginal opening, doses will vary

    Regards,
    Madhumidha

It is given in between the space of spines and a catheter is fixed then we give six mls of bupicaine,
after 4 hours when patient starts feeling pain, top up with 3 cc again.
If she delivers with in 4 hours no further dose is given. After delivery the catheter is removed.
    and this dose works fine.

    Hi all

Am in my 38th week of my Pregnancy.. I have a concern about Episiotomy that is done after placenta is delivered. If i had taken Epidural during the early stages of my labor, the numbness would not be there during the stitching is done. Will the doctor give any medication while performing the stitching?? Is stitching a painful? please clarify..
    Thanks
    Arthy..
