    Its really important to look at the expiry dates on fresh milk especially. The date on the container is 8 weeks from when it came out of the cow so try to get as far as possible from the expiry. Lots of times you see milk on sale with an expiration date of one week...stay clear of that unless no other alternative. I use organic milk also and I am rotating right now between Walmart, PriceChopper and BJ's for my best deals of price and expiry date. Walmart because of their high turnover at least in my area seems to always have milk with dates about six weeks out.

    I cannot emphasize your statement more because items go on sale when it cannot be sold and the consumers think they are getting such a good deal.. and of course it is a good deal if you plan on using it right away.

    But the expiration dates on the brand I buy is about 6 to 8 weeks as well - and it's usually done way ahead of that.
