Brief about the World Sight Day: ‘World Sight Day’ as the name suggests, is a day that is dedicated for pledging perfect vision for every individual on earth. It is an event that receives global attention every year. The agencies involved will help to bring attention on vision related issues that are plaguing the world. The World Sight Day initiative is organized under the Vision2020 a global initiative. World Sight Day is observed for the following reasons: To create Awareness about blindness and vision impairment issues which are considered to be international public health concerns. To raise awareness and educate people about issues related to vision impairment, the importance of a 2020 vision, the corrective steps to be taken in order to restore partially lost sight etc. World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day to draw world’s attention to the problem of blindness and vision impairment. 1.4 million children are blind world wide Ø 75 % of blindness is avoidable by preventing or treating.
