It is very easy to judge from the comfort of our home how the police force lack common sense. Until, we go on calls of varying nature where the life is at risk, one can never find out their reasoning for their behavior. That is why they need better training to make split second decisions. There are more police officers who got hurt or lost their life while on duty than innocent public. The police force is generally to deal with criminals and occasionally they have to deal with innocent people, probably one in one thousand reported incidences. Let us be realistic.

The police is there to protect public. The policemen are supposed to inspire confidence in the common people. There are enough criminals to cause harm to common people. When these things happen, one does wonder why? There are risks involved in a policeman's job. There are also ample rewards. Sometimes, it is just common sense, and not split second decisions that are required. He should have the sense to know when to apply his policeman training, and when to think on his own. This is part of any job, and a very basic thing. Without this skill, no one can perform well at their job. Training can only take you so far.
