Some of the ready to use Oats (Saffola etc) that come in so many flavours like Pepper & Spice, Curry masala are quite tasty. But they are too less in quantity per pack and expensive. So I tried making the same ready-to-use Oats mixture at home by roasting Oats slightly and coarsely grinding, adding the remaining ingredients mentioned at the backside of the packet (grinding some of the ingredients as required). This when stored in an airtight container, is excellent for instant use by boiling in water. Moreover we can just make the quantity needed for about a week to 10 days so that it does not spoil. Added advantage is NO Preservatives unlike the market ones.
In case someone has already posted this idea, sorry for repeating!

    Dear Maroon,
Even I tried them and they are quite tasty. But I am soo afraid to have them frequently as they are processed ones. Just check the ingredients.. All they added are almost dehydrated. They are not very healthy I felt.
But you can have them once in a week or so but not daily. Its my view.
Regarding your home made mixture. Its a quite good idea. But be careful when storing. I have stored oats in the tin and they have spoiled with in few weeks.

True Evergreen. Thats the top reason why I wanted to try home made with the same ingredients but fresh. I just made it for a week and stored it in a food grade plastic container and placed it in the refrigerator. Did this once and it was good.

    Hi Evergreen,
Thank you for such a delightful thread. All the recipes are mouth - watering, I am going to try some and get back to you. Most of the time I make oats cookies for my kids, I will write it down here but not sure whether that recipe has been already posted or not.

  10. You must have been doing lots of work outs also, in your commitment to lose tummy. And that may be a reason why you are losing tummy. Eating oats is purely coincidental. I am seeing many many oats eating plump people in my society, whose tummy is increasing in its magnitude, every year!
