Some looked like just mini robots! No expression as they were hauled. Somewhat older, that didn't start A shift towards joy. Not at all! A few were already resigned To the fate they were forced to face. Like a pet dog, they were aligned Not to their will, but other's pace. Those rosy tiny chubby palms Wet with pearly tears were Clammy, yes! but seemed to belong To those just ones, dragging them far. And those mini trains formed with Tender hands clasping with others' None registering any mirth, Moving slow in that hot weather. The grown-ups walked slower because Of one big problem yes, their bags Forced them to, and a few did pause, Adjusted their straps and hence lagged. Rarely did I happen to see, A few who found something that was Eluding all others, you see! Smiling, those little ones went fast! p.s. This is about children in a school campus in the morning.
@rgsrinivasan brought to mind the pupils from lkg to senior secondary walking in a single file from their class rooms to common prayer venue or to the parked bus that would drop them nearer home. It is nice to note the comparison of pace of walk of students. With heavy loads of books and notes on their back the seniors stumble while the littles in LKG & UKG walks strident . In my days, in hurry we leave the cloth bag containing few books and notes and lunch box in our class room and entire class climb up in single file to prayer hall at fourth floor equipped with visual education equipment too. We were not compelled to wear uniform nor one to check whether we combed the hair and clipped the nails. Thanks for nostalgia. Regards. God Bless.
Mine is all about children coming to school when its just about to start. But it was good read your view and the the good times you had, sir! Thank you. -rgs
