    Re: Rice export from India

    hi all,
thanks for the info...rice being the staple food for most Indians, i guess its going to be really difficult to be mentally prepared for the hike...if every one starts stocking up,its only going to make the prices rise even higher...hope something is done to lift the ban soon.........:( :(

    rgds,

    Re: Rice export from India

    Hi,

I agree with Sowpar totally ! If each one of us start stocking up the rice bags...then surely there is no limit for increase in price.

Initially, it was atta ( wheat flour), then curry leaves and now rice. But even before, there was hike in the price of all dhals....if it keeps fluctuating at this rate...what are we to do...?

Definitely, there should be some solution at the earliest.

We hope there is light at the end of tunnel!

    Hopefully,
    Krithika ( Jithiks)

Yeah, Jasmine rice is at affordable price. But it becomes too sticky once we cook it.I have also heard that Basmati rice is not good for health on an everyday basis.

Now, that Sona masoori is out for sometime ,does any another variety of rice serve the purpose here?

    Hi Vandhana,
I use long grain rice for making idlies and dosas.
It comes out very good and soft. The quantity is also more than what I used to get it from idly rice/sona masoori.

    Regards.
