No more Sona Masoori Rice from India??Other Rice brands??

    hai . yeah even in toronto ,we couid not get sona masoori,so we are using the basmati rice,but we don`t like it.But we are getting the wheat products now.but anyhow thank u for the information.:bonk

    Dear friends
    Suggest me some good rice brands for idli. I used to make idli with IR 20 brought from India. I am running out of stock.

    I'm not sure if I've posted in the other thread - I use Blue Ribbon Parboiled Long grain rice from Costco. My idlis come out very soft. I'm so happy since I'm not dependent on Indian store and the relatively expensive ponni brands.

    Nitha,

    I was using the Idli rice whatever available in the Indian store, but now I switched to Ponni boiled rice(Ponni puzhungal rice).Its very good esp.it gives more batter,less urad dhal and soft Idli than the Idli rice..Try this out...

    Me too using Blue ribbon long grain rice from costco..... it comes up real soft and fluffy, i am happy with the results at a affordable cost.
