My point:
Prev generation Indian parents have taken care of their kids by sacrificing too much. Prev Gen parents had no life, no couple time, nothing. It’s time for kids to give back. They need to live for themselves atleast now. What is wrong in travelling every week, it’s their life. My mom and dad travel every week to different places. But when they come to my home in Canada, it’s my husbands and my responsibility to do the cooking and other home chores. My husband and I are grown adults. We can’t expect anything else from parents other than love. They can help if they wish but not compulsory. Same for my parent in laws. Old parents are in 50s/60s. They need to enjoy their retirement life.

To your point that she is cooking in her home, she can cook in her home. Doesn’t have to do the same in others home in my opinion. I just don’t get it.

In your second part and third part you mentioned few things. My point was people are very bold in indusladies. You are venting here that you don’t like when she forces you to wish everyone but ignore your important days. Have you ever told her straight? People will give you good advises in Indusladies but they can’t live your life. At the end boundary conversation should happen with her for real change. You need to talk to her straight, venting behind won’t bring real change. Unless you talk to your mil when she tries to take you for granted, things won’t change. Anyway it’s up to you to take inputs. It’s your life.
