Hello everyone, :hiya What is your opinion about the new symbol for Indian Rupee which was created by Udaya Kumar?
Hi Nitha, The parallel lines at the top (with white space between them) make an allusion to the tricolor Indian flag and also depict an equality sign which symbolizes the nation's desire to reduce economic disparity. (taken from wikipedia)
It's too bad that we had to change to this as it reminds me of russian, korean and arabic letters.... not indian!
As such using Rs was posing absolutely no problem. This is an unwanted exercise of wasting taxpayer's money.Thank God that the numbers are not changed to Hindi.
I am very happy about the rupee symbol. It is an identity of rising india in the world economy. It represents like Hindi r or any other stuff like others have mentioned, let us not look in to that. Shalini
hi I am proud of the new symbol that our currency has got because only developed countries like USA, UK, Japan, and the European Union have such symbols for their currencies. Also, it is not hindi form as it has been evolved from Devanagari script that was prevalent in Ancient India. Vande Mataram!
