    Hi!!

This is what I follow to finish up cooking fast..

Many of the points are already covered by our IL friends... but still..

Cut vegetables (both for sambar/kuzhambu and poriyal) the previous day itself.. (if time permits.. u can do the same for 2-3 days also..) and put them in a container. i do not refrigerate the vegetables required for the previous day.. bcoz if refrigerated, it has to come to room temperature b4 cooking otherwise would consume more gas!!

measure the amout of rice required and remove the stones if any and keep it ready in the cooker container.. i do the same for dhal also...

wash coriander and curry leaves..(the required amount..).

use tamarind paste.. to save time.. if using tamarind then soak it hot water..

boil vegetables for poriyal in hotwater.. etc..

hope these are of some help to u.

    regards
    ksv.

Hi Priya, it depends for how long you want to keep the cooked food. If you are going to use it by next day then you can keep it in the fridge otherwise best to store it in freezer.

Also if you have cooked dal etc for 2-3 days then try to store it in 2-3 different containers so you can take out one at a time and that way you don't have to thaw the entire portion and refreeze again. As bringing food to normal temp and storing again can also make it stale.

    Hope this answers your query.

    Roopa.

    hi all,

In market there are many new items to help us save time and money. we can store cut onions, tomatoes, lime and garlic by keping them in appropriate containers like this. So that you can instantly use already cut onions and tomatoes instead spending time for them. Check the links:

onion saver - Google Image Search

tomato saver - Google Image Search

lemon saver - Google Image Search

You can prepare tamarind paste or water and refrigerate for a long time.

Soak dhals previous night itself and cook easily with 1 whistle or even in stovetop.

Will update soon with more info.
