Hi, We have lots and lots of old clothes.Though not new they are in real good condition. So thought of giving it some needy people rather than trashing or recycling.it would be of great help if someone could give me phone numbers or addresses of homes or social service organizations. Heard through someone that if we call and let them know the details the concerned people will come and pick up the belongings. Is it so? Please share here the details you know. thanks.
Cindu, Udavum karangal, does take these, but nowadays they are finding it difficult to come and pick it up. you need to drop it at the anna nagar branch. there are others also. but recently my calling up some of them, they say, that they have got lots from drives conducted by the schools, they dont want clothes, instead cash. The other information i received, is there are a set of people who come home with pamphlets saying they will collect, they do collect and sell it off... do call up udavum karangal dear. looks like you are settling well.

Dear IL, There is an Anjeneyar Temple situated inAshok Nagar near pillar. They are collecting all cloths and giving the same to the poor. Lot of orphan children and elders are under their control. The main deity is also powerful. But they don't come to your house for collection. You will have to there and handover everything. Recently I did like that. kaverivenkat
Cindhuja and others Most of the orphanages (atleast the known ones ) have a surfeit of clothes .. its actually not so useful to them anymore . Can you identify any orphanage/old home which is less fortunate ? then you could donate there .. Alternately... you could give it to any church which organises Jumble sale on a regular basis. The clothes are sold to the poorer strata and the proceeds go towards the church. If you have no problems making this sort of donation, I would get some one to collect the clothes for the jumble sale that is being organised sometime next month ..Please PM me thanks cheers Bhooma
