There is a belief that Devi Parvathi did penance at the tip of the needle (oosi munai, they say). May be this is why, we do not stitch, I guess!

i guess usha krishnan is right. b'cos i wa sinformed by my grand ma the same way. she performed the thapam on top of the needle to kill mahishasuran.

No ANAJ( RICE / WHEAT) IS TO BE CONSUMED DURING NAVRATRI IF YOU ARE FASTING, EATING ONE MEAL A DAY.

hi all,

u r supposed to light the lamp two times a day. esp during the evening. also keep your main door open. also neivehtiyam (offerings to the god) if u have the golu outside the pooja room then neivethiyam has to be done for the swami room swami's and for the golu. also put a rangoli for the golu. after keeping the dolls in the golu stand u r supposed to put sindoor for the godesses and tell them vaango( come) kind of welcoming them.on the last day of the golu before packing the dolls u r supposed to tell come next year and apply sindoor again.
