recently chanced upon this shayar or poet, FAIZ Ahmed Faiz so many movies using some of his wonderufl works..

    loved this abida parveen rendition..

shaam-e-firaaq ab na pooch, aayi aur aa ke tal gayi
dil tha ke phir bahal gaya, jaan thi ke phir sambhal gayi

bazm-e-khayaal mein tere husn ki shama jal gayi
dard ka chaand bujh gaya, hijr ki raat dhal gayi

jab tujhe yaad kar liya, subah mehak mehak uthi
jab tera gham jaga liya, raat machal machal gayi

    ......

Nothing beats fond memories that can make the pain, the seperation bearable..!!

    Ain't giving up yet!

Lol. I like their music, and living here, I can't help but explore. So bear with me! :innocent:

    #3 #Folk

“Bülbülüm Altın Kafeste” (Nightingale in the Golden Cage) is an ancient Turkish folktale and a popular traditional folk song.

I picked up the music while on a trip to Istanbul, and the song has since then made it's way to my favorite of favorites in the "Slow-Wine-Night" playlist (one for those "I-me-myself" moments). :relaxed:

    Bülbülüm altın kafeste...

    Bülbülüm altın kafeste aman
    Bülbülüm altın kafeste aman
    Öter aheste aheste
    Öter aheste aheste
    Ötme bülbül yarim hasta aman
    Ötme bülbül yarim hasta aman
    Ah neyleyim şu gönlüme
    Hasret kaldım sevdiğime

    Ben sana aldanamam yarim
    ben sana dayanamam...

    Bülbülleri har ağlatır aman
    Bülbülleri har ağlatır aman
    Aşıkları yar ağlatır
    Aşıkları yar ağlatır
    Ben feleğe neylemişim aman
    Ben feleğe neylemişim aman
    Beni her bahar ağlatır
    Beni her bahar ağlatır

    Ben sana…

    Nightingale in the golden cage...
    (Rough translation)

My nightingale is in a golden cage,
    it sings slowly.

Do not sing, nightingale, my beloved is ill
Ah, what can be done for my broken heart?
    I long for the Beloved.

I cannot be deceived by you, my darling,
    I cannot be without you.

Flames cause the nightingale to weep,
Lovers bring tears to one another,
What have I done to earn this fate?
It makes me weep every spring…

I cannot be deceived by you, my darling,
    I cannot be without you.

    A musical rendition by Master
    Erkan Oğur
    - Turkish Classic and Folk Musician.

They say it's a favorite song of Mr. Atatürk, often performed as a homage to him.

Looking for the lyrics translation, I also stumbled on an Indian Classical Music version, with Veena and Tabla! Nice!

    Enjoy if you will. :wink1:

Err... Soulful music maybe but think technically not spiritual or mystic. Damn. @Gauri03 Sorry. Accidental OT! :beer-toast1:
