Thanks, Meenakshi. I first published this story in English more than five years ago. And then decided to redo it in Tamil.
Many people have been disturbed by this story. The editor of the mag. group which publishes my bi-monthly novels called me up this evening and was talking about this story for half an hour.
At times good stories get written through me in spite of myself.
    thanks for the nice words,
    sridhar

    Poornima,
If only I had known that you are going to post the story I would not have posted it. Thanks for the compliments you paid me on that story.
    regards,

    Dear Shanthi,
thanks for the kind words. I had decided on the main characters being florists. Then I had to choose a religion where the birthday is based on the English calendar and flower decoration is important.
How I got the idea? Well it's a trade secret and yet I will share it with you. Long before I read in Readers Digest, I think in All In A Days Work columns, about an attendant in a florist shop being shocked to hear that the little girl who had just bought flowers was carrying them to her mother's grave. Well then I created the brothers and another mother and made it into a short story.
My DD and DSIL are doing fine. DD has changed jobs recently.
Nice seeing you around here after a long time. Hope things are fine at your end.
    regards,
    sridhar

    Dear Latha,
thanks. Not just Elizabeth but every mom is proud of her child, however bad they may be.
Well, it is not a true story but just a fiction of my imagination.
thanks once again for coming in.
    regards,
    sridhar

Getting answers through a third person, through some other source, from the words of somebody else talking about something else.. well that is called upasruthi. And that is also part of Tamil literature as விரிச்சி"
The beauty is that the mother would never come to know about this incident until very late in her life. And at that time she will be only happy and proud
    thanks for coming in Bhargavi.
