Covid Lockdown has forced me to get stuck indoors
in Delhi far away from Mumbai where my family lives.
I am on transfer to New Delhi but could not go to Mumbai
on leave on this crucial period due to announcement of lockdown.

This has led me to try self cooking.
    Presenting my menu for today.
    Onion vethal kuyambu
    Bhindi fry

Onion vethal Kuyambu (for single person)

In a separate vessel, take small lemon size tamarind
    soak it with hot water
Extract juice from tamarind in around one glass of water
Put little haldi powder, asafoetida, required salt in above tamarind water.

Take two to three spoons sunflower oil in a kadhaai
    Heat the kadhaai
little bit mustard seeds and urad daal
then chopped onions to be nicely roasted
Pour the above tamarind water in the kadhaai
Keep the gas stove in Sim
After the vethal kulambu gets heated well
put little bit jaggery for extra taste.
    Veththal kulambu is ready.

    Bhindi fry
    Separately chop few bhindis

Take two to three spoons sunflower oil in a kadhaai
    Heat the kadhaai
little bit mustard seeds and urad daal
Put the chopped bhindis in the kadhaai
Stir the bhindis for few minutes in the kadhaai
Later put little salt, haldi, red chilli powder and dhaniya powder
Mix well and stir the bhindis for few minutes
Cover the kadhaai with a lid for a while
    Bhindi fry is ready

I am an amateur in cooking
So dont mind some mistakes I may have made.
But vethal kulambu and bhindi fry came out well.

    Regards
    Suresh Iyer

Nice. You have not mentioned any item for the khara in the vetha koyambu, Nexzt time, you can add one oor two red chillies in the tadka and add the sambar powder to the tadka , mix and add the tamarind water.

    2. It is said practise maketh man perfect. It is good that you are using the present opportunity to try your hand in the kitchen as a married bachelor. Accoladesand approbations mustbe on the way from family away at Mumbai.

    3. You should not feel dismayed as things would simmer optimum next time when you repeat the process with elaborate preparation to perfection.

    4. Ok. You made menu Bhindi sabji & vetha Kuzhambu! No rice.
