Hi all, My cousin (mama's son) was diagnosed with MD (Muscular Dystrophy) when he was 6. Now he's 16. His leg has already become helpless (no strength at all) and he can't walk without holding any object. He's a brainy kid, got got marks (90%) in his 10th board exams without any tuition or support. Right now he goes to school with my perimma who has to hold him and walk him to the class room. He can't climb stairs, he can't play outdoor sports or walk alone or roads by himself. He wanted to take Compsci in his XI but the teachers and principal didn't want him to take chance of walking and standing in labs, so he's forced to take commerce/accounts. My uncle himself is a doctor, he has shown to all medical specialists in our area. Nothing helped. The lifespan of such cases could be utmost 30yrs. One of mami's elder brother died out of MD, since it was in her gene she became a carrier. My uncle has given as a foster child to "Lord Ayyappa". He takes him through doli every year to visit sabari malai. My mama is totally shattered mentally on seeing his son's condition. My dear ILites, I request you all to please pray for that little boy to get well soon and live a long life. Only prayers from all good hearts will give him a well-being. -Uma

Uma: Have you contacted the MDA here in USA? I would do that and see if they can offer any advice, help or support for your cousin. Thank you Tina for the reference. My uncle spoke to doctors in different regions already. Unless there's a medical invention his case can't be cured. But I know they are working on a solution for MD based on STEM cell therapy. We are crossing our fingers and praying GOD to bring back his life. -Uma
It's very heart aching to hear the kid suffering so much in such a young age. Let's pray and hope that a cure is discovered soon.. May God bless him with a healthy and a longgg life... May God be there with your mama and mami during this tough time and guide them in life.
Thank you Nandhu and all ILites who are kind enough to drop by this thread and offer prayers. He's a very smart and brainy kid. I don't think this should have happened to him. We are hoping something should turn around soon for his treatment.
