Re: Need help Dear Vinodha Welcome to IL and to Singapore and may your stay be pleasant in both! 1. Yes it is the correct procedure to go thru agents to rent a condo apartment or HDB apartment in Singapore. 2. Please lookout for maid agencies(TRUST certified) in straits Times Classifieds and tell them your requirement. They will help you to find a suitable one. You can interview the maids personally and choose. Alternatively, Katong area has many maid agencies, you can directly drop there to choose one as they have a lot of maids available for interview. From my experience Indonesian maids with working experience in Singapore are better than others and they handle kids well and also learn Indian cooking faster. Best of Luck. Cheers:wave Vijee

Re: Need help Yes, I agree with Viji...Indonesians are far batter in setting their learning curve...My only suggestion is that do not go in for Indian maids...and that too for South Indian maids...just horrible and U will be inviting all kinda troubles..my close friends' experience! Accomodation/schooling near Jurong Dear Friends, I will be shifting to Singapore sometime in March next year. Have few queries if someone can help ! What will be the rent of a decent 2BHK apartment near Jurong area? Which CBSE schools are present in Singapore and it will be how far from Jurong? Also how far DPS will be from Jurong? Will be really grateful if someone can guide on this issue. Thanks
Re: Accomodation/schooling near Jurong Hi Sangi, Rental will depend on how big a flat you are looking at. Jurong is a big estate and depending where you are will determine your travelling time. What is CBSE and DPS ? Rgds, VK
Re: Accomodation/schooling near Jurong Hi Sangi, First, Welcome to S'pore! Jurong is quite far from the city ( well, S'pore is a small place, so commuting is not an issue) There is an Indian School near to Jurong. The Global Indian International school, Queenstown. Just 10-15 mins drive from Jurong. DPS is very far from Jurong. It's in Kovan. central part of S'pore. Rental in & around Jurong is pretty low than the central or eastern part but again as vidyakriti said it all depends on size.Any 4 room HDB flat ( kitchen + 3 room+ living room) will be roughly around $800-$1000. But if u go for private home or Condo definitely it costs above $1500/- check out for the website for more details! http://www.expatsingapore.com/component/option,com_frontpage/Itemid,1/ http://www.globalindian.org.sg/Default.aspx?alias=www.globalindian.org.sg/sg-queenstown
Re: Accomodation/schooling near Jurong I agree to what the other two said on schooling. This year onwards rental costs are crazily going up and so watch out! A 2Bed room apt may even go upto 2000 rent, and it depends on area and how well the area is "rich". Cheers... Jaya
