Significance of Shivratri for vaishnavites I have known that Vaishnavites do not fast during Shivratri. Why is it so? Is it wrong for a Vaishnavite to fast during this festival? According to me, Shivaratri is a festival celebrated for the prosperity of the husband and to have a good married life. When questioned I have only got back the answer that it is because Vaishnavites are the followers of Vishnu and that is why Shivaratri is just like a regular festival for them and therefore they do not fast. This reason has not been very convincing to me ! Hope to see your views on this !

Pradosham & puja. Namaskaram all , I would like to know more about Pradosham puja which I have been observing for a couple of years now.... I used to follow my mom back home in Kuala Lumpur to temple and I generally fast too. My amma told me that the speciality of this puja is for Nandi & Lord Shiva. We would do abhishegam on this day at temple... milk , panneeru , panchamrutham , chandanam , coconut water , curd , etc..... Can someone enlighten me more on the ways of performing puja at home ? Just in case if I could not make it going to temple , then I can do at home without missing my puja. I'm now in US.... so I am terribly missing my homeland and the lively pujas we used to do ( :hide: Hope to get positive replies from all !
