I found it out early in my pregancany in 16th week, since my mom used to have gestational diabetes with all her pregnancies, my doc here insisted on going in for an early GTT. Diabetes runs in my family.
I thank God that I'm in US and they care for every small things from the early pregancy weeks itself. I'm sure, if I was in India, they would nt even find this out now.
I also check blood sugar every 4 times a day, and my expected range is 95-120.(I dont know why this diff of 12 vs 140!!) I used to have high fasting sugar and now it is in control with the insulin intake. sometimes my after meal goes over 120, depending on what I take, but doc is not much worried about it.When is your due date?
    Which week are you now?

I second your words babyblue, i feel its good that GD was caught at early stage, for me so far sugar levels are under 125. i am in 23rd week now. My due date is on June 24th, since i have GD i am not sure whether they will allow till full term. what about you ? i was referred to Maternal fetal specialist since my OB/GYN does not handle GD cases (which is quite strange). luckily specialist is good and has eased out our stress to some extent.

i am having baby girl, what about you. generally i have seen people with GD are blessed with baby girl. it may be myth as well.

My due is May30, but doc predicts anytime within 2weeks before that date. I was also referred to the Maternal fetal medicine group, at the hospital. They r usually the people handling such cases, I even saw a nutritionist and my blood sugar levels are regularly faxed to them for monitoring. So far everything looks good, God's grace.
I'm too having a baby girl, I didnt know abt this GD myth :) , but whenever we used to do the doppler scan the heartbeat was always high, so we were almost sure, it's gonna be a girl. :)

Nice. i am slightly worried on only 1 thing, having scan on all visits, especially i get stressed up when they start scanning, i dont realize whether everything is in good/bad condition. For me they are yet to complete full scan of heart, i am getting more stressed when ever they talk about it.

    Hi Kansun,
Dont stress yourself, there's nothing to worry in going for frequesnt scans, atleast we would know how well LO is developing. There are lot of downside for not frequently checking on LO's growth, most of the developmental issues related to child birth could have been avoided if it was detected sooner in preganancy. It's always good to do it at athe earliest. SO dont worry and stress too much. Moreover trust the doc, they do it for a reason.

So Didn't you have an anomaly scan during 20th week, where they show you the blood flow to LO's heart and the 4 heart chambers? Discuss with your doc if they havenot done it yet.
They should be scanning every organ in LO's body to make sure, it functioning properly.

    Hi Kasun,

yes definitely aks your doctor to explain what he/she sees. Our sonographer showed us the bloodflow from/to the placenta, the baby's kidneys, brain, beating heart etc ... They have to measure these things in order to write the report that all is fine. Ask for ti, as stress is not good in our condition.

I'm afarid I have a bit of a worry too. I am down with a chest infection and blocked sinusitis :-( ... have been feeling bad for over a week and went to see the doc today and he subscribed me antibiotics based on penicillin called amoxicillin and said it is safe (i'm 30 weeks). Anybody heard anything different? I googled and found from most forums that it is safe .... but I'd rather suffer than putting our LO at any risk.

    Stay well and healthy everybody!

    hi Babyblues!!

    how are you..
This weekend i got to meet my Dr. She advised me few food such as ragi, wheat, buttermilk, walnul, almonds, greens and milk. She told me to reduce intake of rice and inclue more fibre rich diet..then gave me a tip to have Jeera water daily which will help ovrcome indigestion. Also instead of having milk in the morning its good when u have the below.

fry Jeeragam and oomam lightly. add water and boil few min.. having this water will help in swollen legs..

i started to have this from today.. How are u feeling now a days.. we are finally into 3rd trimester.. eager to see LO into this world:)

    take care:)

    Hi Nandhu,
I am also taking lot of nuts and fruits nowadays, almonds are really good. soak them overnight and have it directly or with milk in the morning.
I'm feeling movements a lot nowadays especially during night, not that comfortable to sleep, sleeping with pillows all around :).
I'm having leg cramps mostly now, not taking any medication though. Are there any home remedies for this?
are you taking saffron these days? I'm not sure how effective this is!! Also, eagerly waiting for doc appointment next week. Hope everything goes well. Take care and savor each moment....
