aappam rice flour -2 cups coconut milk-1 cup yeast-1 spoon sugar-2 spoons cooked rice-1/2 cup salt- mix yeast in warm water,blend everything in a mixer,keep for fermenting,now its winter here so will take more time! sudha this is the easiest version of making aapam.it goes very well with potato stew. this is not palappam recipe,the one with frills.....its normal aapam recipe. regards v

First time I tried. But it didnt turnout well, I will try this time. If I want to grind rice. then ratio of rice and other things please. one more thing, is there any brand for yeast. last time my appam flour never raised after using yeast. where you will buy yeast?? sorry for the silly question.:hide::hide:

hi sudha, this is my sisters recipe rice-1 1/2 cup coconut grated-1/2 salt sugar-1 spoon cooked rice a handful yeast-1 spoonful grind everything,keep for 4-5 hours and make palappam(frilled one )in appa kadai. you must pour one spatula full and take it and make a round through the corners as soon as you pour the batter.......its a knack! close the kadai,2 minutes appam ready to serve..... regards v
