hi, i am in my ninth month of pregnancy.I would be very happy if anybody can help me with making langotes with cotton sarees of mine... Please suggest other alternatives also. Thanks a bunch in advance Regards, Banu.
Hi Banu It was nice to know that your bundle of joy is arriving soon. For simple langotes you can cut squares out of your old cotton sarees and fold them diagonally to form a triangle. For tying, you can either stitch cord to two ends and a loop on the third so that the cords can be put through the loop and tied or you can even put velcro. Nowadays you get nappies in market as well, but for a new born its best to have home made longotes. Take care and all the best.
Re: home made diapers? One addition : After you cut the squares, stitch all the ends of the square in a hem stitch, otherwise the loose threads will keep coming out and it might harm the baby.See to it that the squares are big enough-that is atleast 75 cm to 1 m diagonal length. Then that can go around the baby's waist comfortably and you can use the ends of the diagonal and the third end itself to tie a knot. Yes,agree with Rachash, nothing like home made soft ones. Will prevent the baby from getting rashes too if with each wash you add something like dettol to the water.
