Popular Tamil filmmaker K Balachander, who was hospitalised in Chennai for the last few days, breathed his last Dec 23, his manager said. He was 84. Balachander has over 150 films to his credit including Aval Ora Thodar Kathai, Avargal, Varumayin Niram Sigappu and 47 Natkal Balachander, who was admitted to Cauvery Hospital last Monday, was suffering from urinary infection and other age-related ailments. Speaking to IANS, the manager confirmed the news. "Balachander sir passed away. He was recovering well over the last few days but his condition deteriorated this morning," he said. Balachander has over 150 films to his credit including "Aval Ora Thodar Kathai", "Avargal", "Varumayin Niram Sigappu" and "47 Natkal". He was also instrumental in bringing talents like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Saritha and Prakash Raj to the industry.
Yuvan Shankar Raja aka Abdul Haliq, son of music maestro Illayaraja, Friday got married for a third time. He tied the knot with Malaysia-based designer Jaffrunnisha, said a family source. The wedding took place amid close friends and relatives of the bride at a resort in Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu. Only Bhavatharini - his sister attended the ceremony.
