Has anyone used long grain par boiled rice for idli? If so what proportions have you used and how did it turn out?
I have purchased both idli rava and long grain parboiled rice.:hide:

    Thanks

    Hi,

I use long grain rice for dosa in ratio of 1:2.25(urad dal :rice).I will use idli rava for preparing idli not rice.

For idli in the ratio 1:2(urad dal:idli rava)

    Hi,

I had decent idlies with "long grain" parboiled rice for idlis. It was better than what I expected:). The brand name is Indo-European long grain par boiled rice. I actually followed Latha's (Traveller) recipe. Thanks Latha.:thumbsup I still need to tweak it a bit. I will try adding some long grain rice next time to see if it improves it even further.
