hello girls who live in chennai and other hot places.... how at all do you manage? today is only 28DegC but really hot european summer and i'm soooo tired. i thought i'll take A to a small castle near the school that also has an international library. he said no i want to go home, i'm tired!

i had to do some errands in the city but shouldn't have done that since the day itself started somewhat so so... the girl was sleeping but woke up at the right time or rather wrong time. anyway i'm too tired now to think of how all she howled and screamed. we're home and relaxing.

    Aarthi,

this is worse than waiting at our passport offices:( oh dear! don't they give like appointments?

may be your tomato plant needs a partner? cross-pollination and all that?

only on sunday i did like 4 hrs at a stretch of kitchen cleaning. then i took a break for lunch and there followed all the other rituals. ever since i'm not even getting 1/2 hr at a stretch to clean up:( and there's a lot to clear:(

    AD,

oh i've told him that several times. y'day he tells me that i'm consciously trying to please him and that's why i get all worked up and hurt... may be he's right.. i must check it out.

Welcome back Asha. no you're not at all bad at managing your time.. 2 kids, home and work issues this is the best you can do:)

we're planning to get a flat TV today. so got to prepare dinner before DH arrives in 2 hrs. i'm so longing for a nap....

    V,

So at 5.5 years age, he'll be in 1st grade??? I thought kids will be in 1st grade only when they are 6.5 years OR am I wrong. Is it by any chance different in Karnataka and Chennai?

Good that atleast he went happily inside the school. Hope he settles down quickly.

Here is my update about DS2 's schooling - The first 2 days (Monday and Tuesday) I waited in the waiting area ... went insane listening to him crying. Monday full time he cried, Tuesday he cried till 11 and then started playing, Wednesday he cried for 10-15 minutes & settled, today he cried for 3 minutes and settled immediately. Hope he stays that way for the rest of the day. There is a substitute teacher from Wednesday, she is really good, the moment she takes him he keeps quiet. She is always having him on her lap. I am in love with this teacher. She is so good with all the children, calms them in minutes. She is very young and has a lot of energy to spend with the kids. Now I am wondering how Akash will be behave when this teacher is not around - this is the concern on my mind right now.

They do have lunch time at 11:30, but I would have given him breakfast in the morning. So he doesn't eat much around their lunch time. I just send him a banana & juice OR yogurt & juice. He doesn't finish it completely, so I bring it back home & give it to him.

Can't believe it is already 10:55. I've to take bath and get ready to go pick him up from school.

    Hii all;

Vidya;Health vibes to shibu. I can understand how tough it would be
AD; All the bst wishes for your mother's surgery. Do take care of yourselves.
Pon; I would suggest that you say to the neighbour's kid in front of your daughter; that you love Shalini very much and she is the best daughter. You need not mention the previous incidents (that the girl is sorta torturing her with such comments). But make it a point to pamper shalini a little too much in front of the girl.
Sindhu; I read about the "office politics". I am sure that "phase" will be over soon. My wishes.

Others; I read the posts and sure that everything is fine at your end:))). What is happening at my end?
    1. Chinnu is getting better; but has lost a lot of weight. She is still off whole milk.
    2. She has 80% suceedded in eating with spoon.
    3. Finally she makes towers with all the blocks and use it creatively. I understood why she didn't do it early. I gave her small blocks; and she couldn't understand the technique. Last week brought mega blocks for her and within a day she graduated to towers:) Parenting "overlooking":))
    4. Met another keralite in our community. She is from my same home town. Her son and chinnu "hit if off" immediately:)

Everything else is going on fine.

CBSE criterion is to complete 5 and a half at the time of entry into Std I ie. in June - this means that all kids born in a calender year (Jan to Dec) will be in the same class; DS will be roughly in the middle in terms of age as his bday is in July. Its the same in all CBSE schools everywhere. TN state board requires only 5 yrs completion for Std I and the age cut-off is usually June for most schools. I have no idea about Karnataka State Board though.

Aarthi - hope you get the visa this time atleast.

Nitha - yay on the blocks!

Latha - I atleast manage by not planning trips for the afternoons. I think maybe you've got used to cooler weather where you can do things throughout the day? Its actually not so bad (barring April/May) when you live here all the time. Its started to rain and its become quite nice this week.

Vidyaa - how is DD doing now? Do update when you can.

A just smeared lipgloss very thoroughly over my comb :bonk I've put it to soak for the rest of the night and managed to not shout at him. When will kids learn some sense?

    Hi girls,

    How are you doing?

Vidyaa - Sending healthy vibes to Shibu. Pray that Shibu is a happy, healthy, sleeping baby soon. Tight hugs to you for managing both well. You for sure can manage under stress - for the deliverables getting submitted on time.

Pon, Latha, Aarthi - All of you doing a great job. Managing the house is no jokes. It is like a continuous process.

Pon I give you a pat :))) you can take care of four kids huh amidst cleaning. About the neighbours talks let me know if the story idea worked.

Aarthi - Good luck with your visa.

V, Amitha, tikka - Glad the first day at school went well.

Tikka - K looks sweet in the avtaar.

Latha - How is lil A now? I don't know if I missed the recent update.

Padmini - How is your LO now?

Ramya - There is a saying if "When you are far it smells of flowers" when you are near it smells of sh**". You are managing great with your IL's atleast your DH will love you more for taking care of IL's. You have apar patience.

Sindhu - Office politics, yeah it happens here too. If I speak up if you are right it is termed as arrogance, same at home, so I am not speaking anything these days nor at office nor at home. Its a man's world.

For all second want to be moms - All the best! If DH supports there is nothing like it. AD, CC I agree with you on this! DH is flexible in this case. I have seen a case in my mother's office, where the lady wanted a second one and the hubby didn't want and he forcibly made her abort. Poor lady.

Sharadha - That was really sweet of your baby to give the piece of mango to you.

Nitha - Good to know that Chinnu is keeping well now. :clap for the towers.

    No rants today.

All is well now. We have started our daily prayers at night and it is binding us together.

Yesterday we played a small prank on Lenora. We were just lazing on the bed and playing with Lenora till she decided to go to the hall. It was then that DH just clinged tight to me to see her reaction, Lenora seen this and slowly walked across the bed and pulled DH's hair hard :) somehow she is not pulling my hair these days. Was she J :))))

I met Sri yesterday, we both had a good time at Cafe Coffee Day, talking about ourselves and kids. Till I got a call from DH. It was good. Tomorrow is Sri's last day, I for sure will miss her office chats, but wish her good luck in all her endeavours as well.

Ignatius will be leaving to Guwahati tomorrow. Two days of me time, yet to decide whether I go to mom's place or stay here. I was planning to shop for skirts too this weekend. I will be wearing skirts after donkey years :bonk

Good morning girls. Will catch up with you tomorrow.

I think it's not just J but also they've this inner feeling that mom is getting hurt. DS only now understands that dad is hugging mom and not hurting her:)

I've been wearing salwar since y'day with bindhi and all that. today, for some reason, 6 strangers asked me what is the significance of the bindhi, why i'm wearing a red one and why DD a black one (i wear kajal on her). you know the first person it's interesting to talk a bit about your culture/tradition and after that it gets annoying.

i must dust up my skirt too, Lee. I've only one that DH got me on our first wedding anniversary. he thinks i look good in skirts but i feel i don't have good leg shape:(

thanks Lee... yes it is a continuous process but also i wonder how some moms manage to keep up every single day. i have tried one room a day and all that but somehow it gets screwed up atleast once a week.

little A is doing good.. enjoying her terrible two phase. when you already have a child you expect that phase in a different way and it bangs you quite unexpectedly. she's a little rowdy. no fear. i have complained sooooo much about DS at this stage but when i look back he calmed down at that little raised voice, a look...; this girl nope:(

ah well.. we come home by 3-3.15. by the time i give both a snack and relax a bit it's 4.30/5. then if i have to pre-prepare for dinner, take them out to run around in the park, return home for the bed-time routine it gets suffocating for me V. i really don't know how moms here manage. i think most households they don't cook at all... frozen or just a hot dog. otherwise the men folk keep things ready at home. oh yes i have gotten used to the cold weather may be (only when it's raining it gets on my nerves). plus you know how horrible the sun can be here:(

ahh... i know. glad you said that word 'when will kids learn some sense'. because when we talk like that it's as if we're not patient moms. but it's only natural to react like that. now little A is into discovering all such messy, dangerous stuff. on sunday she had somehow got hold of the kajal box and dipped all her fingers in. thankfully i traced her at the right time and only had to clean her fingers. they do it sooo quickly.

Nitha - glad chinnu is doing good.

i'm so glad the day has drawn to a close. i've been a grumpy miserable creature since morning. it does no good to me and to others as well. tomorrow i'll wake up early and do my little relaxation. it'll be a better day. and it's expected to be the hottest day. i don't know how hotter it can get. today was 36degC at 5.30pm and unbearable. so we didn't do the shopping trip.

Girls, after ages, both kids slept by 9.30pm and bahhhh DH came home by 11pm. But we had our time together after many months gap. We spoke on a lot of things, such HTH talks really makes a woman happy na? What more can I ask for? He is very much upset that his live-in maid hunt is not yet successful and thats why I have lost weight, look pale, I am not having time to take care of myself, etc etc... Poor man, why do they burry all worries within themselves??? He says, if we had a live-in maid, she would take care of all chores, I just enjoy my time with kids and do something on my own too, like running a website, joining some course, learning a new language (which has been my fav), etc etc.. I told him, its nice to listen to his plans, only if that would work. I am happy this way. But he is not. hummmm Men:bonk
Ladies, today too i had 4kids, but i sent the elder one back home. I didnt want to open up anything before the sibling, she might go hint to their parents. I told a story between to friends, narrated all their good deeds to each other, how they were best pals and later all those irritating talks. The other girl kept mum, didnt see me eye-eye when i went thru those incidents. Later, my story's mother character says, everyone would not have something or the other that there in their friend's house, for sure. Each person is unique and as long as they listen to their parents', they are great children. There is nothing as such - who is the best, whose is the best, etc. Then kids became pals again, in my story. There was a long silence when i finished the story. Instantly I hugged them both, told them they are great kids, started my star rewards after a long time, gave both of them 3stars for being good and helping me around. J was in tears and she kissed me as she used to do some 3-4months before. S immedietly got her old friend back :)))))))))))))) It was nice to watch kids this way :))) yayyyyyyyyyyyy :thumbsup

V, wowwwwwww super boy Aadhu kutti :)) My DD applied lipgloss to all her dolls sometime last week :) And guess what? Wherever those dolls went, they passed on the gloss, i am still not finished figuring out where all those marks are there :))
Lee, how is Len? Work keeps you busy haan? hahahaaaaaaaaa DH would never hug me earlier, thinking S might feel J, but later I deliberately pull him and hug him :) S immedietly squeezes herself inbetween us :)))))))
Ramya, I was wanting my in-laws to stay with me some 2yrs back, but not now :)
Asha, You were missed here :)) How are kids?
Sindhu, your attitude is amazing girl :) Wish i met you, when i had issues back-to-back at work, some yrs ago. But i learnt a lot then, esp - how to self-defend and talk without getting emotional :))) How are P and V? I need to be like your DH i guess, making neck-of-the-moment trip plans :))
Latha, thats why i hate this sultry weather. I would the happiest person, if the weather stays pleasant, may be thats the reason, why am a lot more +ve these 3-4days. Its sooo chill and nice here. I sweat a lot and feel soo dirty, I cant hug DH, kids, I cant kiss any of them, bahhhhhhhh i used to feel very low in Chennai summer :)))))))
    YesBee, how is DD now?
Vidyaa, Dont worry, you are a great mommy, I have been tehre, having a sick baby and a deliverable on hand, yayyyy for you :)))))) How is shibu now?
    CC, Welcomeback :))
Amitha, its as if am watching you and your son everyday, your updates are nice :)) Do you plan to join work?
SS, My DD is allergic to sandplay, which is part of her school curriculum. Now she is off sandpit these 2months and her legs and hands are soooooooo soft, without red bumps, itches and bruises. We have tried cortison creams, when her itching is at peak, and she cant sleep at all. It has helped us. Earlier she used to flare up on water change, weather change, but she has outgrown them now :)) HOw is DD now?
    Hi to all mommies :)

    Pon,

you deserve a huge pat on your back. not everyone can think beyond a child hurting their own and being so generous. it takes a biiiiig heart and open mind to do what you did today. i've learnt a very important lesson from you today.

Thanks Vanathi, Tikka, CC, Amitha for your information. I haven't read all the posts ladies.

I called DD's ped about oral steroids and he seemed to be hesitant about it and has asked us to meet with a dermatologist again (5th time). In the meanwhile, when I was talking to a colleague of mine about this, she told me "Why don't you take DD to an allergist instead of a dermatologist, for you have already met a few and her problem seems something internal and dermatologist cure the symptoms and not the cause.." Made sense. So we are going for a second round of allergy testing next week. I'm hoping something falls into place soon. In the meanwhile I'm still giving her homeo meds.

Ladies, I'm exhausted.. Tired of my own rants.. :drowningBut offlate get a feel that this is difficult to handle. DD's daycare provider is ready to bail out on her. She has not been talking properly, doesn't make eye contact with us or smiles when we drop-pick DD. Kinda gives me a irky feeling that she may say no to taking care of DD any time. May be she feels DD is a tough to handle case. I called my parents to check if they can come for a few months for help but my mom wants me to leave DD there in India with them and we continue with our works here. I can't even imagine being without her.

Sorry ladies.. I know I'm ranting big time.. I hate myself now for being so emotional. Or is my PMS doing the trick?? In any case, love you all and this thread ladies... Such a vent out it is...

Amitha, which homeopath did you see for DS and where there any initial aggravation? And how long did you have to give the meds. By the way, if your DS was allergic to milk, was he allergic to ghee also?
