But i came to knew that for the past one year,getting lecturer job is a difficult one.Since most of the lecturers are not ready to resign and move to other jobs, there is only a limited vacancy. I am a lecturer by profession, but i resigned my job due to some disputes with management.
Getting job is not difficult. Go thru educational classifieds in hindu.
Collect the list of colleges in chennai and send ur resume to all these or which suits u. Certainly u will get response.
There is always wanted for lecturers.
After getting job, make all the points clear abt notice period and all other rules of the institution.
If u want i too have list of institutions in and around chennai.

Please share us the list of instituitions when you find time..And also tell us in precise about the requirements..

Basically i am an MCA graduate with few years experience in IT Field...Also done MBA in distance education...I am very much interested in teaching profession..not only in college, schools also...

1.Is an M.Phil mandatory for lecturer positions..Now-a-days M.Phil can be done in direct education system alone, which is not possible for me as i am going to a job..What is the alternative?
2.How good is passing a NET/SLET

1. Mphil is mandatory for lecturer post. But if you have Net/Slet, then Mphil is not a criteria
2. If you have Net/Slet, you can handle classes for both UG and PG
3. Else for taking classes for PG you need MPhil + 5 years of experience or You should have PhD.
So Mphil or Net/Slet is essential basically.

But according to my knowledge most of the colleges are not following these norms.
Now coming to Salary, in Arts and science colleges you cant expect more but the workload will be less.
But in Engineering colleges workload will be more and obviously salary will be more.

Lecturer post is one of the post which doesnt have any age limit.
So you can apply at any age.
In teaching profession is the noble profession in which we can teach till our death.

Really you have given a valuable information. I am working for an private concern now. I am preparing myself for NET dec 2009. I want to do M.Phil CS. Since am working i cannot do in the regular stram. Thanks for the Valuable information. Will Surely try to clear the NET exam so that i can got into college as Lecturer.
