    I am only a connoisseur of music.

    anyways, there is a link in you tube that teaches you to practice the notes. you get to know more links from there.

    check it out. there are books for the same.

    Prof. Sambamurthy's books are well known for Carnatic Music theory. He has authored different levels of books and they are available at Giri Traders and the entire volume will be available at the shop that Shanvy mentioned.

    Shanvy, I remember when I used to go there to find books. Such a respite that place gave from the Madras heat! The smell of old books just added to the beauty :)

    This time i'm sure going to check out the karnatic shop. Wonder how I missed this shop having lived in chennai for 10 years and even after having worked near that area. may be i have seen the place after all but can't seem to remember now.

    Dear Latha, I am a music graduate and have undergone music training under different gurus for more than 15 years....I was giving stage shows...
    what type of help are you expecting? infact I was about to start a thread like the basics of indian music system last I was planning the same...
    tell mewhat you wanted exactly...whatever I know Ican help you..like melakarta ragaand tala system trinities janya ragas...which should I start from?are you ready for online classes? have you completed the initial lessons?

    I am also living in Munich and I am extremely delighted to hear that someone is on the lookout to learn carnatic music.

    I have been singing carnatic for a very long time, however I miss it so much here.

    Btw I am from Chennai too :)

    Guess we should catch up.

    This time I got some nice raga alapana DVDs from Madras.
