    Re: Buttermilk[neermore]

    Hi all,

Hot summers and buttermilk go hand in hand.

I add a tsp of Jal Jeera powder with a pinch of asafetida and salt. Makes a very refreshing drink!

    Neermor with Nelli flavour:
Grind cut-pieces of 1 or 2 gooseberry (nellikkai) with 1 green chilly, a few curry leaves, a few coriander leaves , two spoonsful of shredded coconut with a little water in the mixie.Mix the paste with a pinch of asafoetida and salt with churned and diluted butter-milk.This can be used as a drink.
If the same paste is mixed with curd instead of buttermilk and then seasoned with mustard seeds , it is "Nellikai Pachadi" , a side dish for lunch.

    Mango Lassi

Lassi is a traditional Indian beverage, originally from Punjab, made by blending yogurt with water, salt, and spices until frothy.
Mango Lassi is very easy to make. It's best made with fresh mangoes but can also be substituted by canned mangoes or even mango juice.

    Ingredients
    1 cup plain yogurt
    1/2 cup milk
1 cup chopped Mango (peeled and stone removed)
    4 teaspoons sugar, to taste
A dash of ground cardamom (optional)

    Method

Put mango, yogurt, milk, sugar and cardamom into a blender and blend for 2 minutes, then pour into individual glasses, and serve. Can sprinkle with a little cardamom.
The lassi can be kept refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
    Makes about 2 cups.
