Hi You've asked about konkan railway. Good!! Konkan Railway line runs from Mangalore, Karnataka to Panvel, Maharashtra. Its single electrified section runs along the west coast of India. You could see the Arabian sea at some places. Some of the famous stations are Mangalore, Udupi, Karwar, Ratnagiri, Madgaon(Goa), & Panvel- end station of konkan rly & outer station connected to Mumbai by Unit Trains. You can book tickets through our any Indian Railway booking counters or through online booking. I've made Up & Down journey 2 times through this route. It has got many long tunnels & go through thick western ghats. You enjoy seeing spectacular view mountains, green valleys, at places water falls also, and a river, reservoir runs along the railway line near Ratnagiri,..... & the list go on & on,..... Hi, I too travelled to Goa from Chennai and from Goa to Mumbai in Konkan. The journey was very good. The scene was picturesque and beautiful, only one should see it to believe. The journey from Chennai was ok, the compartments were cleaned many times during the journey. But from Goa to Mumbai, the food was excellent. The biryani was served in new hot cases with good amount of raita also, the taste was good also with a nice amount of veggies. They also sell a variety of snacks and sweets like rasgolla and gulab jamun. The price is competitive and taste is awesome too. As out journey was in the evening, we could not enjoy the scene and also the caves. Do try!
