Kudos to Hariji for the post on wounds which can be deep and large. It can be emotional and or physical. Ladies bestowed to remember the hurts small or huge. They especially do not forget hurting statements made by their Hitler Woman ( mother in law) and other inlaws and husband in particular.
Thiruvalluvar - the tamil bard had said it in a small couplet:

The wound caused by fire will heal within, but not the scar left by the tongue.
When I was 10, I was learning to ride bicycle and as i was speeding up something struck my forehead and a moment later while riding still i found blood splashing on my sober coloured shirt. Then only I realised the hurt and a samaritan took me to a nearby doctor who did the dressing. In the meanwhile a boy was coming riding my hired bicycle and apologised that his act only hurt my forehead.
The boy found his dad only brought me to doctor. For years they were my friends.
But every day I remember them, when I look at the image of scar on my forehead in the large mirror fixed above wash basin.
The boy was having a string tied at one to a tiny flat stone and whirling it in a circle above his head and that was the moment I was riding the bicycle with my face came in line within the ambit.
Few hv hurt me with words. All those hurts I can't forget. It is their for ever. But I did not carry any hatred toward those caused the hurt. Without my asking, they themselves realised their mistake and apologised to me later. I think my nature prevents me from making any hurting or diabolical or harsh statements.

The 12-year-old boy in the snippet is me. I had to explain the scar on my forehead for a long time.
In another case. I was in class 9th. Coming from a relatively rich family, my classmate and relative was dressed all white-pant and shirt. The classroom was under repairs and the floor was all muddy. He was about to take his seat and I pulled the chair from behind, he fell and his white pant and shirt got muddy. He complained to the class teacher. He cautioned me. I realised my mistake but did not like his reporting to the class teacher particularly when we were relatives and good friends at the same time. We used to tease each other all the time. From that day we did not talk. After High school, we had no chance to meet.
Suddenly after some 60 years we became facebook friends.
