    Hi friends,
I was working as software engineer for about 6 years. I left my job and got married.
Since then, I never thought about doing job. Now that my toddler is 2 yrs old, I wanted to find a job, I would like to save something of my own for her. For time being i am self studying German using online materials

My question is it possible to find a job in IT after 7 years gap?
I was a team leader in a reputed IT company. However my major experience was only in classic ASP, vb script, javascript and other web related languages. I have worked both in development and support systems. I have knowledge in database languages, Oracle plsql and mssql. Have worked briefly in unix too.
I know I have only exposure to outdated technologies.

Do you think I have a chance in finding a IT job? Will the gap hinder my opportunities?

I will prepare good before I enter job hunting. Will I atleast be considered as fresher to start my career again?
Also I am interested to move out to new options like testing. I will do concerned certifications too. I am open to learn current technology and get myself prepared well.
My friend suggested to get certified in any testing tool. Another say SAP. I am confused. Please help me with some insights. Thanks for all your help.

If you have good experience with coding try to learn python. It is one of the hot skill now. Got much demand.

Another one I would suggest is data science. Again so much demand for the same.

There was a post with heading
"Data Scientist - Skills Needed". By caughtinbetween. It got some useful link and certificate details.

If you are ready to do certification and training, still have confidence go for a hot skill.

    All the best.

if you have previous experience is easy to learn any new technologies. Testing I think doesn’t have that many jobs. Maximum jobs are in development. See what’s hot now. Cloud based apps AWS and some more I heard in demand. You will definitely get job. Good luck.
