    Once bil cleaned his mom's chappals and kept it at her feet to wear while going out.

    I always liked the way India reuses stuff ..reusing is good. Having said that...you must reuse if you want to...don't force others. There is no use Mil is piling up dabbas and Dil dosent use them, better give it to maid or someone who wants them.
