    Hi IL ladies,

Can someone tell me is ovulation pain good or bad?

does it affect the quality of egg?

I get ovulation pains every month- kind of pricking sensation or some sort of that every month either on left or right side?

Does this mean ovulation is happening properly?

Any info on this ladies greatly appreciated

Hi Ramya hari. ..There is no such a thing as good or bad relating to ovulation pain. Some women tend to feel the pain and some don't even realise the ovulating symptoms at all.

What I would say is that it's good that atleast with the pain you know you are ovulating. ..Most women need to go through the follicular study or a basic ultra sound.

This doesn't impact the quality of the egg in any form but just tells you when your lh had peaked for ovulation...abd a good symptom to let you know the best 24 hours for intercourse :)

    Best wishes!

Ramya, I never have ovulation pains. Usually some basic symptoms tell me I am ovulating:

    1. BBT (basal body temperature) goes up
    2. Cervical mucus discharge
    3. Increase in sex drive

Also, from what I know, none of the symptoms (including your symptom) affects the quality of egg.

    Thanks WiniPooh & Rakhii.....

what i heard from one of the doctors is that( he is not a professional doctor- but suggests homeopathy medicines) that if there is pain then quality of egg may be affected- egg as it is will be very small and will traverse from Fallopian tube to uterus and if there is pain then by the time it reaches destination there are changes it can worsen quality of egg.....:hide:

Hi Ramyahari...totally ignore what he is saying and instead visit a gynec. You can be rest assured that you are very fine irrespective of whether you feel or don't feel the ovulation pains.

ovulation pain is not a bad sign, it is saying that you are ovulating this time! some women can feel the pain but many cannot, no issues at all....
