info on sterilization

Hello
I am 5 months pregnant with my second child. Thinking of getting sterilized after delivery. However, my husband does not seem to be in favour of it, since he feels that it might have side effects in the later years. (not dat he wants another kid). He has read somewhere that sterilization causes problems in the uterus, leading to eventual removal of the uterus.
He seems to be much against me getting sterilization, saying the it would eventually affect my health.
I am yet to discuss this with my gynaecologist this month. However i would like to get info or feedback about this procedure from those who have been sterilized and those in the medical field.
