    Dear Ladies,

Good news to share...IndusLadies.com in one more magazine giving more visibility for our community.

Some of you might be aware of Thendral Magazine, especially those living in the US. It is a monthly magazine for Tamils living in North America, part of Chennaionline.com group.

We recently got an article published about IndusLadies.com in Jan 2007 issue of Thendral Magazine. I am attaching a copy of the article here (refer the below PDF file).

Our special thanks to Mr. Venkatraman & Mr. Gopal Kumarappan of Thendral Magazine for having got this article published about our community.

This article is mainly based on Varalotti's write-up to Sify's Tamil e-Magazine. Thank you once again for the wonderful write-up, Sridhar.

Thanks to our moderator Vandhana who arranged to get this article here to be viewed by all our members.

We already have started getting few Thendral readers as our new members. WELCOME all!

    Malathy

English Translation of the Tamil article on IL in Thendral

This is in response to Sonia's wish and for the benefit of other IL'ites who are unable to read Tamil. The translation is a gist of the original Tamil article about our beloved Indusladies.com that appeared in Thendral Tamil Magazine published in US.

The website that is growing through the bangled wrists
All of us are aware that every big idea has taken shape because of some small speck of a thought that someone had at sometime. Rotary club was the result of the dream of a lawyer Paul Harry in 1905 who wanted to create friendships and spread a good thought around the country.

Today, we can be proud about a woman’s role in creating history with her achievements. “ Back at home, when a group of women gathered around the foyer to talk, people commented about the women getting to gossip after completing their cooking chores. But today, the same gossip is reaching not only those people, but around the whole world as not just gossip, but as useful exchange of thoughts that is strengthening friendships”, says an Indian lady settled in America.

The basic wish of everyone is that friendship builds relationships. The exchange of thoughts are good for everyone—With these points in mind and with the eagerness to unite the Indian ladies who have settled in Europe and America for financial reasons, the website Indusladies.com was started on March 29th by Malathy with the help of a few of her friends.

The website which bloomed due to Malathy’s efforts is now thriving with many more blooms with the membership of more than 2000 ladies. From college going young girls to grandmothers who are relaxing and happy with the baby talk of their grandchildren, everyone seem to be exchanging their experiences and enjoying the website which seems to be improving and shining at various levels.

It is to be appreciated that this website unites all without differentiating between one’s education, status, language or position and be it an IT professional from the American Silicon Valley, a homemaker, a CEO, a doctor or a security head from S.Africa.

There are more than hundred recipes! Beautifully explained in English and accompanied by hot pictures (digitalized pictures of ‘adai’ still cooking on the frying pan!) are exactly what meets the desires of today’s women. Most importantly, the participation of Mrs Chitra Viswanathan of Mylapore, Chennai and all the know how she shares on the website is manifold.

It does not stop at cookery! Literature too is showing its flying colours in the form of stories, poetry, articles and literary discussions. The website has honored the famous Tamil writer Varalotti Rengasamy by giving him a separate forum on their site.

The forum etiquette is worth mentioning and may be the credit goes to the character trait of the Indian woman. Although there is a full freedom to express one’s ideas and opinions, a group of moderators control the content to suit their forum etiquette.

When a woman from South Africa complains about her problems at home due to the overworking husband, a middle aged lady from Germany advises her beautifully as to how to deal with such problems in life. To facilitate questions as to who is a good doctor in the area and where to buy quality groceries in a particular city, the website has started separate forums for each city.

There are many women who have said that though they visited the website just to see what it was about, they have now turned into addicts of the site.

Websites today give a platform to unite societies and exchange ideas and promote changes. “Yadhum oore yavarum kelir” (the world is one) is the saying by Kanniyan Poongundran and was said about 2000 years ago. The website www.indusladies.com and the services of Malathy are making it come true. We wish them every success.
