I am from delhi, living in Riyadh with my husband. Been here for about 6 months now & I am looking to make some good indian friends and also is there any compunds in Riyadh with majority of Indians living? Are there any parties / get together with the Indian communities and how are the ladies keep them selves busy.

Hi,
There are many Indians living in Saudi Arabia and also many from your city. If you are an IT professional I would suggest you stay back in India as there will be better career opportunities. There are lot of job consultants in India who recruit for jobs in KSA. Or you can check with some websites like Naukri Gulf, Monster Gulf etc. I am sorry I will not be in a position to help you get a job. Evaluate all your options before you move to KSA or for that matter any other country.

There are many threads already posted by other Ilites here and you will get most of your information. I did when I started came here few years back-few sisters really helped me get a perspective of things here at KSA.

There are few compounds in Riyadh catering to Indian populace but I think getting into them will be difficult as most of the apartments get filled in by word of mouth and hence you need to network.

Generally in Riyadh, you will make friends in the following categories:
1. Your neighbours
2. You or your spouse's colleagues.
3. Indian associations like Tamil, Telugu,Kerala etc. ( I am sure you will have one from your area as well-we Indians cannot live without them )
4. Fellow Ilities from this site.

Also Riyadh is full of expats, so I would suggest you can also make friends from like minded expats from other countries.

Once you have your own friend circle you will get into gatherings and other social dos.

I may not be able to help on this query of yours " how do ladies keep busy" as I am not one and may be other sister on the site will be able to help / guide you.

Enjoy your stay with your family in Riyadh.

am from kerala..landed here just 2 months ago..we are living in buraidh(al qassim) its about 400 km away from riyad.am an engineering degree holder i was working in india as a engg college lecturer nd nw its difficult 4 me to sit at home..thanks 4 dis website bcoz here i can meet many ladies from india facing the same situation..i dont knw from where to start my job searching? Is there any job openings pls inform me sisters..
