    Hi kakut,

We shifted recently to abu dhabi and from my experience I can say that 13,000dhs per month is less. But since you both are working and so the amount is doubled so it becomes ok then. Here housing eats up most of your income. Housing is unbelivebaly expensive!! A decent 2 bedroom will be atleast about 8,000dhs per month. You mentioned that you have a kid also, so check if school fees will be covered or not. Thats also expensive here. Medical I am sure you need not worry as you both are doctors right. Other things are quite normal or you can say cheaper than anywhere else in world ;-)

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions, will be glad to help if I can
    :)

    Regards,
    Manpreet

    hello daffodil
thnx a lot for the quick response.i hve chked out noah's ark sometime back,i had liked it,but can u tell me the teachers there are north indians or south indians, coz my daughter speaks r mother toungue only wich is similiar to hindi,so i would like 2 leave her to the nursery wich has some north indian teachers mostly.what did u mean by ICK?
i also heard for junior level's st joseph's school is better,n later u can move them to sharewood or abu dhabi indian school.about sharewood i heard its quite competitive n the tecahers r harsh with the kids in the sense for a good results, coz it effects their reputation.well i hve been in a school like tht,bt it has helped me only, coz the competition spirit wud nvr allow me to be lazy, but i
guess it depends upon the caliber of each kid,if its a weak kid then its gona be tough, all average kids cn survive for sure.

i even cheked out eduscan i liked it also though its mre expensive thn other indian play schools.but anyways leens n noah's ark r the final choice,i guess i too may go in for noah's ark.when did u put your daughter there?

    Hi Jezz,

I guess you will have to go personally to the office to find out abt the teachers over there. bonkCan't be of much help here.
ICK stands for Indian Community Kindegarten . Its for KG1 & KG 2. Its afilited to INdian AUH School.
Even i agree Sherwoods is pretty harsh on kids.. Got my daughter admitted to Noah's in Feb.
The term actually begins 1st week of April & not August as mentioned in my last post.

    hello kakut.

i have been here for only 1 n half yr now and more over i'm housewife,so i dont know as much as others would know.see i want say 13,000 each is too less,bt as dr's u should be offered mre i guess, and i guess only some doc here cn tell u tht so well,bt i'm just telling u wht i feel tht it doesnt seem like a great offer,by the way wht r u specialised in?.as manpreet said housing is expensive here,6000 wont be enough for a decent 2 bedroom now2 years back it ws fine, may be u cn negotiate for mre housing allowance n school allowance also for your kid, medical exp wont be much of n issue for u,like most of us.

life here is really nice, its a good place to raise your child too.once u reach here, after a yr 's exp u can try for better job in other hospitals also.about the hsopital u said i havent heard about the one in abu dhabi, anways will enquire n let u knw at the earliest.

    Hi jess
which college did u study?i studied in St.Xaviers till my degree and then UC college for my PG.

even when my daughter turned 3yrs i was confused about choosing the right school.

my daughter is in Merryland Kindergarten in KG2 right now.next year she will go to Sherwood which is its higher class school.as for me that school has given my daughter lot of confidence in all respects.she takes part in all competitions there ,whether she wins or not.and the aunties there are so caring.
i dont think teachers are harsh with the kids.may be with kids who are uncontrollable, even we may lose temper.of course, teachers are hard working.they give the first day of the week, what they will be teaching for that particular week.so even if child is absent for a week or more, there is no problem.their way of teaching also should be appreciated.initially i used to think (from the feedback i got from others) that learning hindi and arabic in KG2 will be difficult for 5 yr-6yr old kids.but now when my daughter recognises all the arabic and hindi letters very fast,i am sure i have not selected a bad school for my kid .its not at all a burden for my daughter.then the teachers make it a point that all kids come up to the same level.there is no ranking system. And most of the kids who study there has got wonderful handwriting also.

dont worry that ur kid knows only mother tongue.my kid used to speak only tamil and we were particular that our kid should speak her mother tongue first properly before learning any other foreign language...i am sure ur kid may be watching e-junior programs.that itself will make them familiarise with english.so they wont be scared at school.

i have been teaching for the past 7 years for higher classes.students come from various schools.i have noticed that ,getting good marks depnds on the childs calibre and hardworking attitude.one of my students who was studying in so called average school, got admission for medicine wriitng entrance.she went for coaching only for 2 months.whereas many other students, who were doing cbse, igcse syllabus etc in reputed schools ,joined paying a hefty sum for engr, medicine etc.i am not favouring any particular syllabus.ultimately it comes to the attitude of the students.

    hello sangeeth

thanx a lot for the response.i also want to put my duaghgter to sherwood itself,bt all the negative feedback had put me in a dilemma.what age did u excatly put her to merryland, did she got 2 preschool bfre tht?

yes my duaghter is quite familiar with english, she says many words also,e junir is her fav, even right now,she is watching it,hihi.

i am going put her now to a pre schoold n nxt april to merrland, she will turn four in next feb,is it too late,or should i directly put her to merrland this april, wht do u suggest?pls help me ya

ya i agree with u in on tht topic.no matter wht curicullam if the kdis hve the right interest n guidance ,they will surely hve good resuts.actually till my 10th i ws in keralq sylabbus n later for my plus2 i ws in cbse, though it ws so new to me,out of all the students who hd been in cbsce from their kg i ws the topper of the school in 12th.coz i really wanted it

i did my degree in st.teresas college,i hd registered for m.com correspondance bt later gt married n pregant soon n couldt complete it,bt nw i regert it badly.inshAllah after my lil one starts school i ws wanting 2 do montessory course or smthin similiar.

    Hi jess,

my kid will be 6yrs in july.i didnt send her to preschool.she directly joined KG1 in merryland.she was then 3yrs and 8 months.their requirement for KG1 is 31/2 yrs completed by april.thats what i remember.anyway confirm this.i have seen that some kids join KG1 in september also once their age requirement is complete.that wont affect what they learn of course.because the way the teachers train the kids is like that.its not classroom teaching.they go to each kid and teach them depending on kids need.teachers do call the parents and give feedback if needed.if u want to send ur kid to merryland,i would suggest that u and ur husband ,personally go there and talk to them.

good that u intend to study further.since u hav registered for MCom ,why dont u complete it?I completed my MBA IT(sikkim manipal university)last year from Wisdom Institute.

we stay in the building next to GEMACO interiors.
